I figured it was time for a family and channel update. And of course had to include some Salmon fishing. #chinookfishing

Ahoy! It's Jesse here from BC Fishing Journal. Welcome back to the channel and
0:05
if it's your first time here, man, massive welcome to you. It's been a long
0:09
time since I've done a video here and I thought you know what it's time for an update video. So there's been so much going on in my life these days, man, our
0:18
family has had a massive change in the last year. Number one, our biggest change
0:22
is, well, we have moved to Nanaimo. So we've left North Vancouver and we have a
0:27
place here in Nanaimo which we are absolutely loving it. We are now
0:31
islanders. It's crazy to think that. And so we're, this last year, we've just been
0:35
adjusting and you know building community and yeah just really exploring. What does that mean for fishing? New rivers, new lakes, ocean. I'm fishing a lot
0:45
more on the ocean which is pretty cool. I have some friends here who have boats that have been taking me out which has been such a blessing. So that's been
0:51
really cool. And speaking of boats, biggest change number two, I actually
0:55
bought a boat. I've got a an old classic Boston Whaler, a 17-foot Montauk and I
1:03
am so excited to get that thing going. I'm slowly picking away and working on it. It's in great shape but actually the one thing it does need is it needs a an
1:11
outboard motor. My motor is not working so I need a new Mercury outboard
1:16
Something like 70 to 115 horse outboard. So if you know one, man, let me know
1:23
because they're hard to come by. I'm not super mechanically inclined, let's just
1:27
say that, but it's been something I like to learn about. So maybe I'll do some
1:32
videos on that too and I'd love any input that you guys have on that. And so what does this mean for the channel? What does this mean for BC
1:38
Fishing Journal? Well, it just means a couple of different rivers, new lakes, new
1:42
waters, a lot of the same educational content. I love that sort of educational
1:47
focus and lens when I do videos. It's gonna be more catching cooks. I love
1:51
cooking, trying new recipes and so I'll be doing a ton of that as I do. Yeah and
1:58
so I'm hoping to get out more content more often so now that we've kind of
2:02
eased in and starting to feel our way around here I should have more time so we'll see. I mean I do have two boys that are seven and five and they keep me on
2:08
my toes and as of recently we just got a little chocolate lab puppy so my
2:14
goodness like that adds a lot to you. So as you know if any of you are dogs, dog
2:19
owners, you know how much work those little puppies are. So anyway what I
2:23
thought I'd do tonight is just wanted to give you that update, that status and
2:27
maybe share just a couple of videos of a few ocean trips that I did with a buddy
2:33
of mine. He's taking me out in the last couple weeks and we've done some Chinook
2:37
fishing and coho fishing and actually we literally just did it like right over
2:41
there. We were literally catching fish just over at that island right there so
2:46
it's all right in my backyard. Really cool. So here's a couple highlights from
2:50
those two of those trips. Hope you enjoy. We're using a little hoochie there. Not a very long leader
3:25
We're using a little hoochie there. Not a very long leader
4:25
We're using a little hoochie there. Not a very long leader
4:49
Non-stop. It's been like this. We've been going for about an hour and if the rod
4:53
doesn't go off in two minutes something's wrong. It's great. See that's a hatchery? We should be able to keep these ones. This is a Washington
6:14
fish. No reason we shouldn't be able to keep that fish. It's crazy. It's crazy
6:29
Those hatchery fish we should absolutely be able to keep. DFO just brutal call
6:37
You guys already know that. But we're having a good time out here. We're
6:41
smashing Chinooks non-stop. I've lost track of actually having to be brought to the boat
6:47
There's the Namo. It's gorgeous. The wind chill seems right there
7:05
Although you are magnificent and fun to watch. Wow. Look at the size of that guy
7:11
Okey-diner. Come on dad let's get him. Doing a good job
7:30
If you slide up to the right I'll net him. Oh yeah. Take your time
7:53
Careful not when you're ready. I'll tell you when to lift. Keep reeling. Keep reeling. Keep reeling
7:59
You got a real nice cliff here. You got to lift up
8:12
This is a slot. This will work. I think this is it. Let's do a quick measurement
8:22
Oh he's perfect. We got him. He's 70. 70. 72. Perfect. That's a perfect slot limit boys. That's what we want
8:38
Ring the bell. Look what I came in. Came in the old plug. Oh you've got to use this thing
8:43
Hold on. This is going to dunk with this. Listen to the sound of this thing. Ready
8:52
Very satisfying. Yeah. That's a nice. That's a beautiful one. Alright boy. The bite is on now
8:59
The bite is on boys. Look at this fish. Woo dad. Show that one
9:05
We caught it right in the perfect scenario. I should probably put my foot down
9:13
Look at that. Just bleed him and then we'll. That's a perfect slot limit fish right there
9:17
Look at that. Happy guy. Nice. Awesome. Alright. Thanks for coming back to the channel guys
9:25
Miss you guys. And always love the comments, interactions. So looking forward to getting back
9:31
and doing some more stuff in front of the camera. So yeah
9:35
Alright. We'll talk to you soon. Woof
