Probably one of my favorite spinning setups
0:07
This is a Blue Fox Popper 2 spinner. Oh, I got hit
0:19
I got bumped. Nice, it's a Koro
0:29
I think so. Yep. Wow, Koro
0:39
Is it a wild or a patchery, I have to think. Patchery, nice
0:59
You have to be really careful, because you don't want to get wild fish, but you can see
1:08
this is just a little knob here, so that's called a misclip
1:12
They misclipped him when he was a smolt or whatever size. So this is a fish that you are allowed to retain
1:20
If there is a full adipose fin here, then that's a wild fish and you can't keep that
1:25
for a coho. But this is a hatchery. And this just made my day
1:30
So that's always the goal when I'm coming here to the Vedder, is to catch a nice coho
1:34
Look at this duck's fin right here. He's having a great time
1:38
Look at this little guy, he's going to kill the buzz on the fishing
1:58
Gotcha. Got that fish on baby. Come on buddy, you're going to let go
2:22
Come on buddy, you're going to let go. Good size male
2:43
Oh there he goes. Quick release. Oh. Yeah I'm on now. On the spoon
2:54
This is a smaller one though. Female. This is a small one
3:20
Definitely not as big as the male. Oh yeah, I'm ok. Even if I do the quick release on this one, I'm fine with these guys
3:33
The coho, I hold my breath. My heart stops. Alright, here he goes now
3:44
He's waking up. Alright, let's just bring you in and get you off
3:50
Alright. Not a bad looking female
4:09
Alright, there you go. Ah. Ah
4:20
So I'm doing a bit of a recap while I'm driving back. But it was raining so hard out there, it was hard to, I don't know if you would have heard me
4:27
But today was a great day, or great morning. I just hit the lower Vedder River for just a couple of hours
4:33
It's mid-September and there was a nice rain last night so I figured some new fish would bump in
4:40
And so I went and caught a lot of pink salmon. And I got a nice little hatchery coho which I was over the moon with
4:47
That just made my day. And I caught everything on Gibbs Crocs
4:52
Spoons, I was tossing those. So I didn't bother much with the float rod today
4:57
And actually even pink jigs. I caught some on pink jigs as well
5:01
But yeah, the Crocs actually worked really really well. And just casted it out, let the current kind of take it
5:07
And it was actually not far along as the spoon would drift past me
5:12
As it's sinking down in the deeper pools there, the Crocs were on fire
5:16
So it was great, I had pink ones, there was copper and orange
5:20
And I had a silver one and they were all doing really well
5:24
So the pinks were biting them all. And so there you go, the coho are starting to show up, that's really exciting
5:30
And yeah, salmon fishing is picking up in the Vedder River right now
5:35
So I guess ring the gong right now. Or I guess that's what this video is doing
5:40
Alright, good luck everybody, take care
