Well, welcome back to the channel, everyone, it's Jesse here from BC Fishing General
0:17
Thanks for coming along. Today is a typical thing I love to do every summer, usually in July
0:23
We like to go for pink salmon in the Campbell River and it is late August
0:28
They've actually been here a little bit late this year, so this is our first real go at it
0:32
And let's see how we do today. All right. Ooh, first cast
1:05
As soon as it hit the water. This little guy
1:30
And it's like. Alright, we'll get you out
1:52
Alright, I'll get you off here. I'll wake up. Morning. You need a netter? Sure
2:05
I mean, I got a net here, but yeah, if you want to..
2:09
I'm going to let this guy go anyway, so it's not... Okay, yeah, that sounds great, thanks, man
2:18
Thank you very much. Cheers. Now you're waking up
2:28
Alright, we're gonna let you go. Don't worry. There we go. There we go
2:36
All right. Alright. All right
2:48
I just tied that little flylapse. Fly last night. Let's get a little..
2:57
Nice beautiful fish. There we go. Let's get that out of your nose there
3:09
Right in the yapper. Okay, well, yeah... Oh, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on
3:19
Hold on, hold on. Don't you're at... There we go. Flies out. Ah
3:30
Alright, that's one for the board
3:45
We're all right
4:00
We all right. First cast right there. Every time that little same spot
4:11
It coming right in He doesn know he hooked yet Do you do a little jump
5:13
Alright, let's bring in, we'll get you off here, bud. A little smaller one
5:34
A little smaller. I love it. I love it
5:43
It's a little bit of a little simple. It's a little simple
6:03
This fly is just a little bit brutal. This fly is just brutal
6:07
Not my best work. I literally just threw it on there last second. And some little split shots. One, two on the leader, and then obviously the rest of the
6:18
set up there. So that just gets that fly down there quick. Cast her out. Let it drift. Nice. So it's got those split shots get that fly down deep
6:32
Usually I like a little more maribou on my flyb, but I lost the other one
6:37
Yeah. Gotcha. Gotcha
6:54
Oh, this is a clean one. This one I might keep. Well, I'm going to keep one for the barbecue
7:05
This one's not bad. not bad. Oh boy. Ha ha! This is a clean one. I'll keep them
7:36
That is. A little toe-em-up on you. All right, quite. This is
7:45
Oh, that's good
8:02
I'll get you. Alright, this is a good one. I like this one
8:12
This will be my keeper. All right, we'll keep one
8:21
We'll just keep one. All right. All right so I got the Quarter ounce jig This has been a lot of fun to catch these guys on with light tackle A little fraser by the CSO guys This is a local rod See it a 7 foot twitching rod
8:53
So it's perfect for this setup. So all I'm doing if you're finding your prowl hooking fish a lot, try doing a little gentle or
9:02
twitch, just a really soft, just a really easier twitch, not so heavy, the fish
9:10
Not so dramatic. It's nice and easy. That's all you do. That'll avoid those foul hooks a little easier
9:18
Not perfectly, but... Got that one in the effort
9:34
There is guys. Oh, it's got him. Oh, it's got him. Let's put around from me
9:44
I always get him in. There he is. Oh, let him go
9:51
Oh, it's let him go. Oh, he's got some spark to me
9:55
Oh, boy. Let me get it. Let me just do these, these are
9:59
these are, you can knock. There you go, bud. There you go
10:05
There you go. Keep going, you're free. All right. As we're continuing to move along the lures here
10:16
now I'm using a little bead with a little size 2 hook
10:20
It's just a tiny little 8mm soft bead. And I got a leader line, 10 pound, little split shot
10:29
Usually I'd have another one, I think I'd have a... But that's all I need. So we're going to keep going after these pinks with a number of different setups
10:43
Alright, we've got a beadfish here. Fish on a bead. Just a little guy. Right now that's shore too. There we go. Oh, oh
11:01
Well, now we're waking up. I gotta land him before I do anything crazy here
11:15
Alright, that's why he's... He's a scrappy little guy, I'll give him that
11:25
All right. You saw a big spring jump? All right, beadfish, nice
11:41
See you got a beefish there. The bead just popped out. There's a beadfish
11:48
Alright, that's pretty clean one. Do you want to, should we call that our eight
11:52
Do we have seven? Yeah, we'll keep this one. Well, we're done
12:07
It was fun. Lots of traffic. Well we wrapped up, we got our limit, which we actually got way more than our limit
12:21
It was a fish in a barrel today. And today was fun. I was just about experimenting, trying new
12:26
So we got pink salmon on beads, spinners, flies, jigs. Oh, everything but the kitchen sink today
12:36
So that was fun. So we got to try experiment with new lure. So next time I'd like to try a few more different colors, but it's a great day
12:43
All right, we are back from Campbell River, and we've got our eight pinks
12:49
Yeah we do kind of like a captain cook thing I show you one of my favorite ways to do salmon I do it for all my salmon this way salmon this way cedar plank the dry rub It killer Anyway I going to do that with the pinks
13:01
And the other sixth salmon, I'm going to chop up into cubes and I'm going to make salmon patties
13:06
So typically I would smoke these salmon, but I've got a lot of smoke salmon already from
13:11
my ocean trip adventure, which I have two videos ago. So if you haven't seen that one, go check that one out
13:21
I just want to get the row out first
13:37
Just want to get the row out first. there. Beauty
13:53
Two little ones. Perfect. I'm in a row bag. Those are going to be in here
14:03
All right. I like to go. I'm going to get the top
14:11
I guess I should pull up these guts here. So I work on the..
14:20
So I work on the collar. Then I put the blade on the backbone like that
14:27
I found the backbone, lift the skin up a little bit, like so
14:32
And you gotta be careful because you're bringing the knife towards you, but you just ride that backbone all the way back
14:42
Like so. Voila. And I just gotta slice out that. This is where a sharp knife means the difference of saving a lot of meat
14:57
Which my knife is not that great actually to be honest. Here
15:01
So I'm pulling up this rib cage. I'm just sliding my knife along the rib cage inside
15:09
You coming. It's me, mommy. What's that? Yeah, are you filming? Yep
15:15
You want to be in the video? Say hi everybody. Hi. Hi!UNTEN TILLIEN
15:21
Nope, you didn't. You never mess it up in my videos. I love when you guys are my videos
15:27
It's got a time period. Okay. Who did you? Do you want to say hi? Hi
15:32
It's Asher and Levi. Oh, ho. He's made previous appearances. All right, so there we go
15:40
So there's our flay. Now all we have to do is pull out the pin bones. Pink flay
15:49
And then do the other side. Oh, actually before I do that, I can scrape this too
15:54
Because I did miss some meat. Just go like this. Grab that in the bucket
16:04
So then when we put the fish altogether, this will be transparent like at the other side
16:19
inside and what I've done is I've played the salmon that's two plays but and I took
16:27
some olive oil and I just put it rubbed a quick olive oil on there and then I used a very
16:33
large amount of BC famous salmon rub this is a great rub if you you're looking for
16:39
and you can find it in the store and so I gingerly applied it and so you can start to see it soak in it's on a cedar plank which is soaked all right here's the finished
16:47
product here Pretty good. Group consensus. Gummy! Excellent. Excellent. Excellent
16:56
Best way to eat pinks? Fresh. The day out, do not freeze it. Hi. Hi. No. Bye
17:05
All right. Thanks for watching. We'll see in the next one
